Figuring Out Folders
Here is a pre-assembly picture of a folder I made recently. I feel like I am finally starting to learn what to do and what to avoid.
Recent Work
It has been a while since I have updated this with my work... been a bit busy I guess.
Here is a fixed blade from O-1 steel that I made, along with its sheath. The knife measures 6.25" OAL and has natural canvas Micarta handles with brass pins and lanyard tube. This knife is on its way to live its life with its new owner in Rhinelander, WI.

8/8 Spanish Point in Horn
Here is a razor that I just finished up this morning. It is an 8/8 and has horn scales with a purple heart wedge. The razor is pinned with brass rod and stainless washers. The length of the cutting edge is 2.75" long. The razor was ground from 1/4" O-1 steel stock.

Custom Pry Tool and Cord Cutter
I was commissioned to make this tool by a customer from Etsy and it turned out to be a neat tool and experience. The tool was a collaboration between myself and a teenager from Georgia that had seen my tools and came up with a tool of his own design to have me make. With a few tweaks to his design, this is what we came up with. There is a prying end, cord cutting notch and a pointed tail-end to break glass (i.e. escape tool).
Pouch Style Leather Sheath
Leather pouch sheath that I made with a tooled stripe to change things up a bit. This was stitched with waxed nylon and finished with a light coat of neatsfoot oil.

Straight Razor in O-1 and Zebrano Wood
I ground this blade recently and am looking forward to shaving with it this week. I will get it back from being honed hopefully mid-week.

First Straight Razor 6/8 in O-1 steel with Purple Heart Scales
I ground this blade from 3/16" thick O-1 tool steel using a 10" contact wheel on a KMG grinder. The scales were made using purple heart and the blade was pinned with brass rod, stainless steel washers and polyethylene washers on the inside of the scales. This razor was honed by Doc226 and is an amazing shaver. I instantly started a second razor that follows these lines with the exception of a few dimensions.
